BETTER SCHOOLS FOR OUR CHILDREN

Working alongside Premier Chris Minns, we’re building new classrooms, upgrading facilities, and making sure we have more teachers in our schools so that our kids can get the world-class education they deserve.

BETTER SCHOOLS ACROSS STRATHFIELD

We are building a new preschool at Harcourt Road Public School, delivering a major upgrade to Strathfield South High, as well as improvements to:

  • Homebush Boys High School
  • Chalmers Road School
  • Burwood Public School
  • Homebush Public School
  • Homebush West Public School
  • Marie Bashir Public School

Recent planned works include:

  • Chalmers Road School – COLA replacement
  • Harcourt Road Public School – Block A, B & C floor coverings
  • Homebush Boys High School – establishment of new support unit
  • Marie Bashir Public School – window replacements
  • Strathfield South Public School – B00C toilet refurbishment

Through the Community Building Partnership program, we’ve also delivered vital local upgrades for:

  • Strathfield Girls High School
  • St Martha’s Catholic Primary School
  • St Anne’s Catholic Primary School

MORE TEACHERS FOR OUR CHILDREN

Under the former Liberal Government, an unfair wages cap and years of neglect left our schools in crisis. Teacher vacancies hit record levels, and every single day 10,000 classes across NSW were merged or cancelled.

When the Minns Labor Government was elected, one of our first priorities was to rebuild public education – and we’ve been making real progress. In just two and a half years, we’ve:

  • Delivered the biggest pay rise in a generation for public school teachers.
  • Reduced teacher vacancies in our local area by 60% – so kids spend more time learning in class and getting one-on-one attention.
  • Almost halved the number of merged and cancelled classes by putting more teachers back where they belong – in the classroom.

There’s still work to do, but we’re committed to giving every child the education they deserve.
